Innovative materials

The main mission of the sub-group “Innovative materials” is to study new polymers with applications in fuel cells with the aim to extend the operating-temperature range towards the high temperature region. This will have a positive impact on the cell performances and costs.

Two classes of materials are particularly appealing to us  in the fuel cell field:

  • polymers for proton exchange membranes
  • conductive polymers for corrosion protection of metal parts (bipolar plates)

Expertise:

  • polymer design
  • synthesis of monomers and polymers (low temperature and inert atmosphere facilities)
  • characterization of the obtained materials
